To save anyone else from having to look it up like I had to, gastropods are the class of animals that contains snails, slugs, and a few other slug-like animals. So yep, alien mucus seems fitting.

For anyone wondering what a Gastropod is it’s any of a large class (Gastropoda) of mollusks (such as snails and slugs) usually with a univalve shell or none and a distinct head bearing sensory organs.
