For future reference. If you want the grain to pop. You need to treat the body with Grain Filler. I know that sounds counter intuitive, but it's what PRS and all the other big companies use to get that awesome 3D look to their transparent finishes.

Well, I will purchase one as a rehearsal before working on a Precision Guitar Kit, that seems to be the top of the DIY kits...

Could be regarding the color...I believe you are correct but there is a wide range..If not familiar with identifying woods the buyer is at the mercy of the seller..But is it possible for you to lift your mahogany guitar off the table? Again it's not an issue with the wood unless you are verifying the integrity of the manufacturer/Vendor... The pickups produces the sound...

Are you sure the solid body is mahogany? Mahogany is one of the heaviest woods, you should not be able to simply lift it off the table top like that. And I also think it should be darker in colour, like a rich red/brown colour.

fantastic job on the guitar, i've been wondering about these very kits, i even watched this whole series of videos!!! quick question, did you reshape the head stock into a gibson shaped one? or buy a gibson (or gibson copy) head stock?

anyway, you've given me plenty of ideas and food for though, thanks alot!!!

Great looking top. Has it got a nice wide neck and full neck profile like a true Les Paul ? How's the neck to body joint, do you think it'll turn out without gaps after gluing etc ?

I got a chinese guitar kit from a brand called "Derulo". It looks a bit like an eddie van halen type of kramer barretta special... Is that the brand you got your kit from, because you kit looks really good.

good morning friend, that wood is this body? if I only want to buy the arm or only the body, there is a possibility?

That's because mainly Mahogany is used for it's tone...Not as a solid body, only means sore neck...No tonal difference to an electric...The pick ups are what counts that's why woods used for electrics are often for the grain rather than as a sound board, on a flat top....

It's even an archtop. Where the heck was I four years ago!?

I see!...Again my point is that this video show's the poster putting a guitar together...the fact that he is selling a package that is manufactured by a company and also advertised by a company doesn't make it His company falsely advertising a product....Have you actually verified this or speculating...Two wrongs do not make a right...Also, see the Gibson site...Top pick for woods is Hard Rock Maple!...But, thank you for your opinion! Aloha!

the craftsmanship on these are not all that great. not only did it come with no holes drilled for the stoptail, the neck wouldn't line up right.. the hardware is pretty cheap and the veneer was sanded off on the edges.. When i wiped off the excess glue from the gluing the neck on, the veneer started to peel.. do not be mislead by this video like i was..

Gibsons sound "horrible" now? and don't use "solid wood" ? You should take a factory tour - you'd learn how ignorant and uninformed those comments are. BTW - It's "their glorified name" and "they're so mass-produced" not always "there" . If you're 16 perhaps you should pay more attention in English class before you get out in the real world. Currently, employers will perceive you as illiterate.
