When shopping for a shell package, note that every company's package is different and none that we know of is more complete than ours. Every company includes different things. To some, weathertight shell packages may mean tar paper on the roof and no windows, soffit, fascia, decks, exterior trims, stain, etc. The Golden Eagle Shell Plus package is truly a weathertight package. Big fan of log houses but...after looking into it. I think the half log, 2x6 wall and TnG on interior is the best because of the wiring on exterior walls. But both are beautiful.

Is it possible to use mas timber made out of timber crete and hempcrete boards glued together ( basically adding sawdust Roman concrete and lime to make board that can be glued to a logs , by simply. Building on basement floor made out of material of your choice like cinder block, reinforce concrete etc. that is going to be also your shelter , best investment buying some old stone house that needs to be rebuilt)

Looking at property to purchase up in Maine. Or Vermont, Or New Hampshire. I am going to want 4 log homes built a family retreat. I'm hoping to go with the best person with the best prices for this type of building. I am going to do all the foundations because I want mine to have full basement and maybe the others concrete slap. Please comment back thank you

I did the virtual tour on one of the big ones and there were hundreds of knots in the walls / ceiling. is that normal to have that many knots? Looked like polkadot wallpaper or something. Or do they just use the bad wood for the model one? Would be good to save money but kind of bad for advertising. Or is this just what happens when you use real wood or something?

What about those of us who want a log home (like 3-4 bedroom 2 bath) but don’t want all of that extravagant stuff that makes these homes expensive to build.

These aren’t log houses per se, they’re rather stick frame constructions with “plank” sidings which they call “half logs” in the industry. The logs play absolutely zero role as far as structure is concerned, they only use these so called “half logs” for looks and feelings of nostalgia. They’re just sheds with plank sidings in the exterior. Stay away from these expensive plywood and stick frame boxes...
