I recently purchase and used the Gorilla 5 minute epoxy in the dispenser. I first used it to secure wooden mortise and tenon joints on custom furniture. I am holding my breath that a client never has a problem, which will tarnish my professional reputation. The reason I am pensive is that on the same day I used the same epoxy (equal parts, stirred 30 seconds, and applied within 2 minutes.) when I was trying to use Gorilla epoxy instead of silver soldering a brass guard to my 440c stainless steel knife blade. After throughly cleaning and air drying both pieces of metal I applied the freshly, made epoxy to all the edges of my blade and to inside knife guard and very snuggly, press-fit them together.
I let it cure for 3 whole three days, after which it seemed snug .

Today I placed it my truck tailgate for not even an hour at 70-80 degrees and sunny wheather.
which I had previously scuffed up the matting surfaces, applied your epoxy to both the blade surface and the inside of the slot in the knife guard
. I press fit (very very snug but installed by hand and a light tape into the side of work bench) the guard to my blade, put it away in my 70-75 degree shop for 3 days. Here is the rub: This morning I placed my knife in the sun on my truck’s open tailgate with a bed liner. It was not on my tailgate 30 minutes in a morning sun (65-79 degrees) when with just a gentle press on one side of the guard, it came right off. What gives? Thank you for all your help
