Inflation doesn’t spare Geekbench scores either

Geekbench scores always seem to favor macs.

I was puzzled too, but thankfully you can filter the results by Geekbench version and clarity is made :)

Has this not always been the case? geekbench 4 vs 5 scores differ a lot as well.

I see you have High Power mode on which I believe clocks the single core higher. I'm getting 2659, 14354 on 14" M2 Max w/ 64GB RAM

The scores are relative to a i7 12700k... So you can't compare different versions

Geekbench 6 compute score is now on par with apple gpu scaling previous thats not max tech also said that, in Aztec ruin test gpu of M1 max is close to 3090 but in geekbench 5 compute there is a big diff.. And max tech proves applr silcon not utilizing full power in geekbench compute test now its changed
now in geekbench 6 compute its shows almost on par with 3090

Hi Alex, I need your help in making a wise decision. I love your vids but I admit some go over my head, lol.. I want to purchase my first MacBook for coding, portability is also important. I will mainly use it for normal day to day use, YouTube, Netflix, emails, web browsing etc. But the most important is that I want to start learning to code in VS code and x-code, will be attempting to learn C++ and possibly Python. I’m looking at keeping the device for most likely no longer then 2-3yrs max before I upgrade again. Could you please give me your honest recommendation for which MacBook would be ideal for my use case, I would really appreciate it. I was thinking going to 512gb ssd and 16gb ram money is not a real issue but best bang for buck for my use case in your opinion would be really helpful in making my decision. I appreciate all the effort and your explanations in all your videos. Looking forward to your reply. Cheers from Australia 👍

On geekbench 6 my cuda score ranged from 93000 - 98500 after doing the benchmark 10 times in a row, talk about inconsistency all over benchmarks I use always keep in a 1% range when doing multiple in a row

They change the cpu and gpu of reference and also the test they applied in, more realistic as they said

I ran Geekbench 6 3 times on my SE 2020 & got 3 different scores each time. Single & multi

Definitely different. With my i5-8500 CPU put to the test, says base frequency of 3.0 GHz, and maximum frequency of 13183 MHz ( 13.183 GHz ). The max freq is actually 4.1 GHz.

My 2020 M1 score increased
2300 for single
8500 for multi
Conpute score 32000

You are right to not use those benchmarks to compare systems. Better using some real world workflows, what you do !

sounds like a regression in latest geek bench. I just ran geekbench on my M2Max 38 gpu/ 96G 14". I get 2666 single core, 14384 multicore

I'll need to get used to geekbench 6 scores now? This is frustrating
It's like shifting from US Dollar to Canadian Dollar
So I'll need few months to calibrate and get used to geekbench 6 while erasing all of the thought-process I've done with geekbench 5...

Yea these inflated scores are baffling as every major geekbench update I expect current scores to be reduced by 30% for single and multi score if not more. Either the creators of geekbench found a way to optimize the benchmark or they lightened up the complexity of the benchmark.

you could just keep using geekbench 5 but they block access to the old scores online so it no longer functions as a benchmark.

haha thanks for this. I thought I’d just installed a very weird and broken cpu
