Nvidia, I'll give you £500 for the 5090, and you can generate the other £1500 using AI.

Great job nvidia. 30% more money for 30% more vram, 30% more power usage and 30% more performance. What a generational leap!

"RTX 5090, run native 4k, with Ray Tracing above 60fps without Frame Gen."
"I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that."
Edit- so many angry comments. Relax guys, just like AMDs ray tracing capabilities this is a joke.

If Nvidia sold me water, I would check the lead levels first .

For me, the appalling decision is to sell the 5070 as a 12 GB card.

For those wanting to upgrade from a 4090 to a 5090, hi! I'm Brad Pitt, I've been in a bit of an accident and could do with a loan of some cash till I get out of hospital...

Generated frames are like diet coke. It tastes familiar but you know somethings off.

I've actually never been less hyped for a GPU release.
It's nothing wrong with the hardware or the tech, it's the pricing.
The way things are going, I'm starting to question how much I want to play games anymore.
Between the out of touch pricing and the increasing frustrations of modern online gaming,
I'm close to just sticking with what I have now and riding it out until the next decade and/or until it wont even load games any more.

Extremely sad how this generation relies solely on fake frames and not native resolution.

Why do I want high FPS? Responsiveness. Inputs feel snappier with less delay. Clearer image in movement.
Fake Frames give like you said @04:05 "Smoothing". This does not help the actual clause at all. Its like that "500Hz" or "1000Hz" TV statements a while ago. They were just smoothing techniques.
I feel like its completely justified to critique Nvidia harshly.

The more you paul the more you hardware

The discourse would be way less disingenuous is we start looking at frame generation technologies as smoothing features rather than "performance".

At this point I would like to see the tech review community to adopt a new naming scheme for performance metrics: rFPS for "real frames per second". Not to make it more clear for the viewer but to create a problem for nvidia/AMD in a few years time in the form of stigmatization.

This would be more reasonable if a 20% increase didn't cost 20% more.

Honestly after buying my first AMD card a couple years ago, I may never go back. I have had ZERO issues with this 7900XTX. It has less driver issues than my 3090 had.

NVIDIA has become so complacent with AI datacenters scooping up their GPUs that they stopped caring about consumer deception.

seems like holding on to my 3080 throughout the whole 40 and 50 series has worked out perfectly

$1, 000 per 15% performance uplift sounds like a steal to me (for Nvidia)!

The knowledge you share here is extremely unique. i must say you and trader Cischke have really brought me far on this journey of growing my finance.

So if the 4090 is 40-50% faster than a 4080 and the 5080 is in rasterisation performance just 15% faster than a 4080 then it means the 5080 is still a good chunk slower than the 4090 if you exclude the x3 and x4 framegen stuff and rt performance. And people were celebrating how the 5080 is now 'cheaper' than the 4080 was when it launched, but the issue is that the 5080 is also in direct comparison to the 5090 also slower than the 4080 was compared to the 4090. So the -80 card might have gotteen 'cheaper' but also worse in performance compared to the halo card. Nvidia seems to do everything in their power to make the gap between -80 and -90 bigger and close the gap between -70 and -80. Usually the 80card was closer to the highest end than it was close to the 70card.
