Episode 42: cheap 2W RF amplifier, some measurements

Показать описание
In this video I test the behaviour the cheap 2W rf amplifier (2Mhz - 700Mhz) bought from Aliexpress for 11.50usd:

using:
- the Siglent SDG 1032X, and
- the HP 8591E spectrum analyzer.

are the harmonics due to signal generator or amplifier? what is the harmonic amplitude without the amplifier (just signal generator and analyzer)

Did you notice that applying the signal reduces the current? I changed the bias for the output stage to reduce the standing current to around 300mA. It reduces the gain slightly, but it then stays more constant - possibly even increases a little with input. Very useful test - thank you.

Ciao ! wich input power are you using from the rf generator ?

Hi again. Did you get any linearity measurements at lower input power? As you said - it was generating a square wave, so very much not acting as a linear amp. You can also do this without needing the modulation by comparing input to output power as you increase from zero input to maximum.
