Do I NEED To Do Strength Training for Vertical Jump? // If you're looking for how to increase your vertical jump or how to jump higher to dunk, in this video I talk about strength training for vertical jump vs. plyometric exercises for vertical jump, and whether or not you have to do vertical jump strength training to maximize your vertical. If you do a strength workout for basketball or strength workout for athletes, you allow yourself to apply more force into the ground than if you did a plyometric workout for vertical jump. Therefore, weight lifting for vertical jump and weight training for vertical jump should be included in one's exercises to jump higher when trying to increase vertical jump.

I’ve always said, if you’re not in the weight room, you’re only 3/4ths of the athlete you could be. It’s absolutely necessary to prevent injury, increase performance, and become a better player or jumper. Don’t make mistake the neglecting strength trading like I did in middle school and early high school! I could have saved myself a lot of time wasted on injuries, if I would have been consistent with a proper strength and conditioning program when I was younger. Even from a skills perspective, the weight room is extremely important. I don’t think many players realize how strength/stability affects nearly everything such as how fast you can pound the basketball, how quickly you can get into low positions, how fast you can execute moves, how far you can get on stepbacks, how acrobatic or stable you are when finishing and even how much effort you have to give defensively. If you’re a serious serious athlete or basketball player, strength training is a must and cannot be neglected! I always give the example of Nate Robinson. Nate Robinson is so strong, that often, he looks like he’s just coasting while playing, while other players his height have to give maximum effort. This is obviously because his strength/stability is so far ahead of most players, that he can often go just as fast when running or doing drills as other players, yet look like he’s not even breaking a sweat! 🙏🏼

I heard a podcast in pjf that static stretching is good, but you have to get rid of it some time in the future, im just intreseted in wether you only have to stretch after leg workout or do it in the morning etc. And he said to lengthen muscles you have to do essentric training, and he also says that stretching turns off nervous systems defensive mechanisms so what would you recommend do we have to get rid of stretching or do we keep it and do it often but only for a few seconds

@nathanaelmorton Is it possible for people like me who have scoliosis? My legs are not aligned with each other. I am 5'9 who can touch the rim. Also, I've been doing your bodyweight program for 6 weeks now. About to go to the 7th week. Yet, I have not yet seen any improved results. Just wondering if that's one if the reasons why I have not yet increased my vert. Thanks!

I have a question. If I am doing plyos on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and lets say wednesday I do a really intense workout. I don't do leg work on Thursday and I am still sore on Friday. Should I do plyos Friday or let my body rest?
