How ALL 'Natural' Punchers Generate Power: Kinetic Integrated Mechanics Reference Video

The way people in gyms or YouTube teach you to punch is _*NOT*_ how natural punchers throw their punches.

This is a reference video for my system of punch mechanics. I've been doing similar explanations before some of my videos however it is VERY time consuming. I wanted to put it all in one place so people can refer to it which will allow me to make more content.

My goal with this channel, my website and product is to teach the natural mechanics top boxers use to throw punches. These are the mechanics that people say you can't teach, however I've created a way to teach it.

The kinetic chain illustrations come from Thomas Myers' excellent book "Anatomy Trains."

It's kinda funny how untrained street toughts and the hardest punchers in the world have the same idea when it comes to puncbing hard: You wind up and then swing like you're throwing a baseball.
The difference is balance and reducing the telegraph.

I’m a professional exercise physiologist and have been boxing for roughly just over a year. This is by far one of the most informative, spot on the money videos I have seen when it comes to punching power that I have seen.

Dempsey himself wrote that punchers are made not born. Terrible that that so many people (including experienced fighters/coaches) believe otherwise.

One thing that particularly helped me grasp the concept was being told "Your arm is an extension, you punch with your body"

After doing some of your exercises, and working on my technique I was able to hit over 900 on a local punch-machine. I know those aren’t entirely accurate, but that’s the highest I’ve ever gotten on it by a decent amount.

Ilia Topuria is a good example of someone that punches like this. The body shot and then right hook he landed on Jai Herbert is the perfect example. Jimi Manua also punches like this too

I don’t even compete yet but anybody that’s interested on the “how” can appreciate this video, even people who do compete

Thanks for this very detailed analysis of the sweet science

I’ve been saying the same thing for years. Body must go from max relaxation to max rigidity in the smallest amount of time possible. Drive with the rear foot/big toe. Rotate hips with glutes. Contract rectus abdominus. Squeeze fist tightly upon impact. Practice every day. Unleash during sparring to make sure it works during the fight. ( don’t finish off ur sparring partners tho.)

I've been boxing for 30 years. I have to say this is the best explanation I've seen and heard on this topic. Thank you very much.

You are the first actual fight mechanic based on medicine and sports investigation, you deserve more recognition. Although I can already imagine a ton of broccoli heads saying that you don't look like a crook so you they don't believe you. Oh well, you still rock, dude.👏

I hit hard with my straight punches but my hooks need a lot of work. Great video I understand a lot better now

There are many reasons why one boxer knocks out another. You can knock someone out even without good punching technique, for example because they are tired or because you hit the right place at the right time. But for me it was always about finding out how to generate maximum impact power. Thanks to your videos, I understood how to maximize punching power in boxing. If I ever become a professional Boxer, I will contact you. 💯

I really enjoy your videos man. I have a fight February 15th and you helped me understand punch mechanics very well. I’m hitting harder than I ever hit.

Ive done muay thai/kick boxing for 7 years, i remember being taught the old way to punch, but over time i started punching this way not because i tried to but it happened naturally.

I trained with a friend who does boxing was 20 kg lighter than me, he said my cross was very fast with no tell and a lot of power. I told him its only faster because our techniques are different, and he needs to relax, being tense even a little bit slows you down.
