Cool Top Rated Products for any Pet Rat Owner:

Pet rats, like the two you see here, make wonderful and amazing companion pets. Commonly also called domestic rats, or fancy rats but basically they are just called pet rats. They are an excellent pet for anybody of any age. They work really well with small children. Some people consider them to be an excellent first pet for small children, although they are popular pets for adults as well.

Most people find that rats are very social, very interactive, inquisitive, curious. They do seek human attention. They do being around people. When they are socialized properly, when they are raised and handled often they become very tame, very friendly, very sweet loving animals. Most people understand the appeal once they own a rat.

The majority of people who choose to adopt a rat often get addicted in a sense and they will often own multiple rats and it's usually better to have at least two so they can rat with each other, they can be companions, they can play with each other. It works out much better by having at least two rats as pets. They are very friendly. Rarely will they bite. Like I said, if they are socialized properly, handled often, they become great pets. What's important to understand about having rats are the requirements for their captive care.

It's also important to understand their life span. A lot of times people may not realize when acquiring a rat or any of the small rodents that their life span generally is about two and a half to three years. But overall the commitment to owning a rat means a commitment to having a proper cage setup, learning about proper nutrition, having the right type of environment for them for stimulation, the right amount of time to devote to their socialization and continued care and the overall enjoyment of having such wonderful pets.

Lol "have at least two so they can rat with each other" I found that funnier than I should have.

Precious babies! <3 It's funny he mentioned getting "rat addicted", I had my first rat when I was 6, and haven't been able to live without them since. Proud rat owner for 17 years!

Rats are very special I have tried to live without them and found that I miss their care and time spent with them I find them a great way to relax and just be loved, no other creature maybe a dog shows as much loyalty and they do not bite even if you stress them out they take alot of guff before they bite back if ever. I have owned many rats they love to play, come to their names when called like mini dogs I remeber each one I have ever had loved and spoiled they can eat anything its not hard to take care of them at all bond with one and you have a die hard friend right to the end. They do not last long as many develop issues tumors or get absceses and infections out of nowhere it seems so enjoy as much time as you can with them it is limited. If you get a rat love it bath it spoil it and it will never ever turn against you it will love you back clean you snuggle with you. If you leave it in a cage and just feed it you will get a scared animal that will not respond to you other than being fearful. Don't waste time with this animal if thats all your gonna do rats are too special to miss out on.

We just rescued two baby rats here about a week ago :) we give them plenty of attention, we clean their cage daily, and we give them a proper diet with rat palletes, berries, fruits and veggies! In my opinion, rats do not live long enough, and I'm still trying to get behind the fact that my two new buddies won't be here for too long. Me and my entire family have made a deal together that we will give these rats the best lives that we possibly can. I love them with a passion, and seeing their excitement towards the effort we put into them makes all the work worth it!

I cracked up at the "becoming addicted" part. It was a bit of a hysterical laugh. Way too true.  I have a really big custom-made cage and only three boys in it, the temptation to get more is strong.

Oh PLEASE, PLEASE do NOT recommend ANY pet for small children. The animals might not harm the child, but children below a certain age are not able to handle animals, stressing them out or hurting them. So yea, just DON´T

They're incredible pets. I had an accident litter and ended up with 18. Helped me through difficult times and been amazing company. I like to upload vids of them, I enter them into rat shows too :)

I don't really think rats are great for a first pet for young children. Maybe good for kids around the age of 12 and up, because usually younger kids just see a rat in a petstore and they think it's cute, so they get a tiny cage and some crappy seed mix and they end up getting neglected because they didn't realize that rats are more of a responsibility than people think. I believe rats are a bigger responsibility than dogs! Younger kids usually aren't willing to do the proper research, and rats aren't exactly easy pets. I'm 13 years old and I have two little albino rats, and I've done a lot of research on them before I even considered getting one. They are hard work, but it's worth it because they are amazing pets.

Rats are incredible. Smart, affectionate, clean, extremely easy to care for, and easily trained. That they live only 2-3 years is one of the great tragedies of pet-dom.

Not only intelligent but they're also SOOO loving. You'll only understand when you'll have your own rats :) Btw try to get 2 or more as the guy in the vid said because 1 will be so upset and lonely. Plus there's nothing better than seeing them play around and cuddle.

I had one that got loose and came back two weeks later.. it was so funny, I go to the front door and look down, there he was looking right at me... I would let him run loose through the house just to find out later that they like chewing on wires and insides of couch cushions... he would even come to the call of his name.. His name was Resin..

I was almost sold on getting a couple until I found out their lifespan. It makes sense that it would be short, but that's too short for me. I don't want to get attached and have my heart broken that soon.
