I installed the same model on my MK5 (2005). Some observations after about a year.

1. My wiring harness had no CAN signal. I traced the wiring diagram and intersected CAN signal from the climate control wiring harness. After doing so, I am able to continue using radio after ignition off. After taking off the key, radio turns off. It also made reverse camera work automatically without any cabling for reverse signal etc. It also includes seatbelt, door information, fuel tank and speedometer information.
If you do not have CAN signal, you can only make it work with ignition on/off. This sucks as radio only works with engine on.
If you happen to do the same, make sure to use twisted pair (I used ethernet cable twisted pair), otherwise CAN signal might be interfered by outside noise and cause other issues.
I also disconnected gala signal and antenna power from the original radio wiring harness as this was supposed to be used for CAN on the head unit wiring harness. Not sure if the standard changed sometime.
Head unit turns brightness down and up via illumination signal - if you have auto lights, this is quite nice! Buttons also light up via this signal - as well as the rest of the car (climate controls etc).

2. I had to change the power and ignition on cables around. Otherwise radio was powered from 'ignition on' signal, which is bad as radio expects it to be powered all the time and also it could overdraw current from wherever this signal originates. It goes to deep sleep and draws very little power if properly set up.

3. There are two ways to connect camera
If you have CAN, I recommend using reverse signal wire as power from head unit - there is a dedicated pin for this and you don't need any more wiring!
If you don't have CAN, you need to tap into reverse bulb voltage and also use a relay with permanent 12V as reverse bult voltage turns under 12V when engine is on! You'd then use the reverse bulb voltage as power for camera and as signal into head unit.

4. Android version is 6.0 most probably, changed in system to be 8.1 or even 9. This is basic chinking, don't fall into it.

5. 1GB version is enough for waze + spotify for example, but sometimes lags. Try to get at least 2GB version if possible.
With 1GB, it might help to remove google apps and use microg as this uses less RAM and head unit performs better. Play store works fine.

6. Turning on in sleep is quite fast, but as I use waze + spotify usually, my phone connects to bluetooth and sets up internet hotspot. Head unit connection with wifi takes some time. If you use local music or FM radio I'd say it powers up within 5-10 seconds. Again - if properly set up. If you use ignition as power, you may see that the head unit turns on more than a minute. Also the software configuration might need to be checked in this case.

7. Standby power usage is very small. It goes to deep sleep after a couple of minutes after taking key off. This won't drain the battery :)

8. FM radio performance varies with different models of the same head unit - mine has quite bad signal, even though I have an amplifier. It's just bad shielding inside the motherboard of head unit.

9. Microphone quality varies. I bumped the levels via software but it's still quite bad. You could solder a different microphone if tech savvy enough :).

10. I use Spotify, Waze, YouTube Music mostly. Sometimes YouTube (with alternative YouTube Vanced apk). It's great to choose music from the head unit instead of the phone. But via phone is of course possible via Bluetooth.

11. My head unit edges do not register touch properly. Luckily this is not a problem as back key is physically available, which is mostly on the edges.

12. I bought it for ~100€ originally. When I discovered it is actually based on Android 6.0 and not 8.1 as advertised, I got half of my money back. Great deal!

There is a problem with the contact, you have to move the orange wire one box above. To interrupt the current when you take the key out of the ignition from the original position it is 13. And you also have 14 (see how the old plug was)
