Jaap Stam was a monster. He was also playing RB for Milan at 32/33 years of age. And he was a capable right back as well. Always thought he was only purely a Center half.

That’s a full defensive line made up of Center backs! And they are all legendary!

Vidic was a beast of a defender. Being good on the ball isn’t defender’s first priority. You should assess them in terms of defending.

Kompany was probably the best on the ball - period. He could have played anywhere.

Now, being a centre back isn't just about how good you are with the ball at your feet. Van Dijk is probably better overall, but I'd put Kompany up against any CB of any time on that particular aspect.

I never understood why Ferdinand is always higher rated than Vidic. From watching united 2006-2013 i can say Ferdinand had more silly mistakes in him than vidic.

Mannnn tbh. For the amount of praise Vidic gets . He has some lowlights by the best forwards. Eto, Kaka, Torres. To name a few. It’s a tough sell when you get owned in 4k.

Terry is the best by far. Incredible leader, scored goals, read the game amazingly and his on the ball skills are severely underrated. 5 premier league titles and most goals in PL for a defender.
