Qwant, another alternative search engine.

Qwant is a French based and hosted search engine, that claims to know nothing about you, but this video proves that the claims are 100% false.

It's fantastic for relevancy, but the privacy is not there sadly to say.

Here is what makes Qwant NOT private:
1. Revenue for Qwant is generated through sending user data, search terms & habits, as well as other information to Microsoft.

2. Qwant does track some of your searches and habits. It does collect some form of logs, and the claims are entirely false and misleading.

3. France is not known for being particularly good with user privacy, so a French based search engine is "sus" in terms of privacy.

4. Qwant tries to collect as little data as possible, but compared to Startpage and DuckDuckGo, it's nowhere near as private.

You forgot about the most important thing: how they get search results, from other search engines or their own crawler.

This search engine is great, but does not live up to the privacy claims. I do recommend it to those of you who want a different search engine with great relevancy.
