Room (2015) Movie Review
Показать описание
A24 continues to impress with its lineup of film with the release of Room. Here is my Movie Review for one of the best reviewed movies of the year, based off the book by Emma Donoghue, the writer of the screenplay as well. Directed by Lenny Abrahamson, Room tells the story of a young mother (Brie Larson) and her 5 year old son Jack (Jacob Tremblay) stuck in a cramped and dilapidated shed for the better of 7 years. Jack has never been out of the shed, which they call Room, as his mother plans several desperate escape attempts. Room is a movie that, while I was watching, I stopped half way through and realized I was watching one of the best movies of the year. Room is a terrifically enchanting film with superb writing, acting and directing all across the board. I can't think of a film I enjoyed more this year so far. What did you guys think of Room?
OVERALL RATING: 10/10 or A+
Room is a perfectly crafted and structured masterpiece in storytelling and acting. An utter powerhouse of raw, human emotion and a perfectly, tightly knit story about survival, isolation, a mother's love, and literally growing up to overcome old demons, all told through the perspective of a five year old. The best story I've seen told in a film all year long and easily one of the best, most heartbreaking depressing, uplifting scripts I've seen all year. Brie Larson gives another career best as she brilliantly plays a nurturing, damaged young and confused mother, while Jacob Tremblay equally shines and gives us one of the best child performances I've seen in years. Both are equally deserving of Oscar love and wins. The direction is spot on, I love the choices made, especially to tell this story and shoot it from a child's perspective. The pacing is fantastic and the score is deeply sad and haunting. I overall love this movie dearly, mainly because of the various emotional responses I experienced as I watched it. One of the best theater experiences I've dealt with all year long. I love this movie deeply, period.
