Me and my husband went to visit the Isle of Skye about a month ago. We stopped and spent a night at Portree and loved it! For lunch we went to Birch and it was so so so good. Would totally recommend to anyone visiting! It's amazing!!

I'm in Orkney and we have Lidl, Co-op, Tesco and Asda. Came as a bit of a shock when I went to Stornoway and they only had two Co-ops and a Tesco. Saying that, there's plenty of local businesses, all of which have their own charm.

My mom visited the Isle of Skye before I was born and thought it was so beautiful that she said if she ever had another daughter, she was going to name her Skye. Here I am now!! lol

I lived on islay and was so disapointed of the desecration of the local farming culture.. there was certainly enough scope for the island to be mostly if not fully self suffiecient, however, scottish farmers being encouraged to retire early. Plus kick backs for only growing one crop or for planting trees on the land prevented this. We were supplied mostly by the co-op, I think they have some sort of contract with the scottish government about supplying the islands.
