Dude who ever is the mayor of this city should be ashamed of themselves and whomever is the governor there should be fired! The streets are disgusting with trash and probably tons of needles. No trash bins. Lack of aid for these folks! Its like the capital of drugs watching these videos! What is getting done about this and have you sent these videos to folks in charge because the neglect is showing for sure on city officials!

When we as a society start to think this is acceptable, we need to rethink what can be done about it. This is absolutely absurd. So so sad.

And how much it means to have a little kindness from a stranger.

I visited North Philadelphia's Kensington area one day about 10 years ago after visiting my dear friend lawyer Vincent Salandria who was a leading Warren Commission critic. I wanted to see the street where Rocky was filmed and his house was located. What struck me was the large abandoned buildings. When I spoke to my friend afterwards he explained they were abandoned factories and people had no jobs and no hope and turned to drugs.

Coming from a third world country, I would say the forces or police in the country should take these junkies out. They were born in a first world country with the best opportunities for hard working minds yet became a disgrace. They aren't even worthy.

Seeing scenes like this makes me so thankful to live in England and not the US. Of course we have homeless people over here too, but nothing on the scale of what you see in this video. It's shocking and sad to see these kinds of scenes go ignored by the US government.

At least the late spring and summer will make living here more bearable for these folks I can’t think of anything more positive to say.

The trees in that side-street looked as though they were about to blossom-pink. I found that really moving-that God was still providing beauty among all that misery. Reminded me of a line in a poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins: "There lives the dearest freshness deep down things". I heard that line in my head once when I was rather depressed and thought my life was at a dead end. I noticed a little shrub in the garden of the place where I worked-all winter it had looked completely dead. Then one day in Spring I noticed it was completely covered in tiny green leaves and thats when that poem came back to me. It gave me the courage to leave that place and get a better, more interesting job. There's a spark of life in everyone even if you think there's nothing more in life for you.

We as a society are all responsible for the circumstances that bring people to this kind of an existence. These are not just addicts. They are the fired, the evicted, the sexually abused....no one can tell me that a major city has no resources and money to enhance the choices that are available to them. This video is an obscene stain on us all.
