M8, you're an Aussie! As soon as I heard your voice, I thought 'educated Aussie babe', great to have you here!

Ghana December 2019, anyone?🇬🇭
This is very relatable lol
Sometimes I give people the benefit of the doubt, because they are probably trying to know and actually ignorant (although they need to come correct with their questions).

You couldn't have said it better! I live in New Zealand and I get the same questions. They only think of South Africa when you mention Africa!

Thank you for telling the truth about GHANA. There are people living here and have forgotten their roots. Once I read an interview and I was so confuus afterwards. A girl who is from Ghana living over here only had negative things to say about Ghana. she said Ghanaians are Always mad and not nice! I was like whaaaat??? from which Ghana is she from? I was so confused. I miss how people greets you like you said… Yes some people are ignorance and sorry but I don't Always have the time to waste on explainng myself over and over again. I was really nodding my head through out this video. Nice one I enjoyed it.

It’s funny that you said they think you are from Guyana when you say Ghana because I’m Guyanese living in America and most Americans think Ghana when I say I’m from Guyana

OMG the speaking English so well bit. I live in UK and I'm a nursing student. Some of my colleagues think I only learnt how to speak English when I moved to UK. I'm the only black girl in my class and I'm constantly telling them we are taught in English in school.

You have a saintly amount of patience, I'm so sorry on behalf of Aussies for testing it. I really enjoyed this video, I'm absolutely guilty of knowing very little about any african countries. Our geography/sociology in school always seemed very insular. Very focused on our own history and only briefly touching on other western countries.

The way you describe aussie life is very true too. I really dislike how isolating it can feel here. How little it feels like you matter.

Rambling. But really enjoyed the video! Thank you!

Nigerian are upto themselves there was this girl was in school with me she was like Sudanese ppl are dark and she keep saying until I get annoyed I told her thank you those dark one you see are the refuse to bleach their skin. We all African and black there is no need to bring each other’s down.

Especially the heat in Melbourne is so horrible!! I never experienced anything like this ever in my life. Even when the wind blows it feels like fire - this may be due to the bush fires last year. I hate the heat here but luckily it’s not constantly hot everyday. And oh the flies yikes!!!

I have experienced all of this beforee Loll.
Most new people I meet cant have a conversation without starting with 'where are you from?' and when you say Sydney they will ask but 'where are you originally from?' If I was born in Sydney Australia then I am allowed to say I am from Sydney right?!
I do the same as you though I try to bite my tongue and educate more.
Thanks for sharing xx

AWESOME. I was just in Accra, Ghana in March 2020. I loved it. Had planned to stay the whole month of March, but because of pandemic it was cut short.
West African Saints know how to PRAY, too! Powerful.

"If you don't go out of your way to greet them, they will NEVER greet you." 26 years of living is Australia, , STILL not used to this way of moving through life lol

I think its more about whether a place is 'developed'. I think in country towns people would be nicer (in Australia). Which means as Ghana develops they have to make sure to not lose the 'humanness'

In my country, the rain feels good and cools you down if you get caught in it.
The rain here makes you feel dirty, you want to go shower and scrub it away. After the rain, you don't want to go out some places, the air don't have a clean smell, too much pollution in the air.
