#AskQueera is back, but this time I phoned a few friends to get their opinions and advice on VIRGINITY and WHAT IT MEANS TO QUEER WOMEN. This is a video series where I give advice on all things LGBTQ+ to young gaybies, questioning folks, and anyone interested in learning more about the community!

Virginity is a heteronormative word, but when applied to LGBTQ+ folks, what does it mean? What constitutes virginity? And does it even really exist? Thank you to my friends, and fellow queer YouTubers, for answering all my questions. You can find them on social media below:

Damn. I really relate to what Georgia said about needing to rid yourself of internal homophobia. We’re just raised being told that virginity is one thing, and it’s not that simple.

Loved this.
It would be great if you could do something like this about internalised homophobia and compulsory heterosexuality, and how those two combined can cause not figuring out you're gay until mid/late twenties and later in life. It would be great to hear more stories and experiences about these topics.

Unless you are a bottle of Olive Oil, being 'Virgin' anything has no value whatsoever.

5:18 I love the fact that she remarked “consensual.” Made me feel better about part of my story.

I'm 25 and I used to feel a lot of pressure for not having sex, but I've realized that I'm on my own journey and that the best way is to do everything at my own pace and when i feel comfortable with it. And the societal pressure is just stupid

When I outed myself as a lesbian the first thing my sister said was so ur gonna be a virgin forever. I never though about virginity this way. Her opinion and the way she just though about men and woman showed me that we need more education in topics like this. So thank you for this awesome video, we need more vids like this it’s extremely important!

I'm a little late to this party but I am a bisexual 26 year old virgin, and I do mean that I have never had sex. I've never even done anything more than making out. Watching this video has helped me tremendously! I hate that I am still 26 and never had sex and I do feel like society is making me want to just lose it, especially since I am bi and people seem to just think bisexuals are sluts. However, I have stopped that in myself and I am waiting to be with someone who I trust and feel comfortable with. Thank you all for sharing this with us and really all the diverse different answers!

Honestly, if people want to wait for marriage or for a special person, that's beautiful. If they don't mind sleeping with someone before, it is beautiful too. I think the only thing that wouldn't be healthy is if you fear your future partner will judge you based on your virginity or lack therof. And if you feel like you "lose" it. Virginity is beautiful, and so is making love to your partner. ❤ We shouldn't judge and hate anyones opinions. I WANT to wait for marriage, I think that's beautiful. That's just me. But that doesn't mean I think anything different to my way of life is wrong. ❤

Oh. my. god. Im having an existential crisis over the sentence "do you believe in the word virginity"
I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS AN OPTION NOT TO.
I dont have to believe I lost a huge part of myself by being raped.
I dont have to think I can never give that part of myself to someone who actually deserves it.
I dont have to feel like I wasted my one chance on a trashy guy, but I can still have that experience with a girl, or someone who will treat me better.
I can just exist and be myself and not have to worry about it, because it doesnt have to be such a huge thing, or even a thing at all.
I'm practically in tears.
thank you.
