Good advise. The thumb rule I use is that I tell people only what they NEED to know about me, not what they LIKE to know about me. Most people are only curious about what's happening in your life. They don't give a damn about your dreams or goals or ambitions. Most people will engage with you only to 'size you up' to know if you are resourceful enough for them to leech / feed off you. So, we should be very careful whom we spend our time with. Often even 'family members' aren't necessarily your genuine well-wishers. So, it's always better to be private and share very little about ourself with random people.

"Don't throw pearls before swine". Lesson learned after almost 60 years.

I agree 100 percent. So called friends did the worst damage to me. Lost careers, and almost homeless decades ago due to my friends. Ppl can be such scum bags.

Our culture teaches us we should be "talking" about everything. It's not best for our mental health. Be extremely judicious what you share and with whom. I used to think some people were extremely shallow but I understand now why they guarded their inner most thoughts and feelings. They knew something I didn't but I'm learning it now and life is much more peaceful.

The hardest thing to do is be the light and the better one for others who constantly try to take you down assuming you can handle it because you're always stronger than they are. It's a very mean world filled up with unsupported people who regularly take and do not consider how important it is to give back with supportiveeness EQUALLY to them being takers.

I openly talk about my struggles with mental health when friends/colleagues ask how I’m doing. It helps. It helps lessen shame I have about it and it might help the other person too. More often than not the other person will share the mental health struggles they have had or are having. 💕

This is great advice. Validate your thoughts and feelings yourself. Not even share with your so called BFF. There are a lot of people who even use seeming compassion to make you trust them. Support for anyone should be given with boundaries. There are scammers everywhere who know how to play on and prey on (not genuine ) your vulnerability.

Self love is essential. It's better than expecting friends and family to be mentors or therapist. They're not even getting paid for it 💚

Remember this: Anything we say, can (& possibly will) be used against us. Ppl can twist your words to fit their narrative, but they can never twist what u didn't say. 😉

When people who have no business asking me about things I should keep to myself, I make something up other than what what is true because they might take advantage of me.

When I was growing up the things you didn’t share were your business ideas and intimate details of your personal life. Now you can’t trust anyone with anything because people are so judgmental and two faced. However I did like the positivity of this video when it comes to being kind to yourself

Exactly, we should hide of our dreams with others. It is highly insecure to share.

It’s a Narcissistic Epidemic! What happened to being an equal in a relationship? He didn’t pull the tigger that took her life. She was made to feel unimportant to anyone because of his smear campaign. What a shame to leave so soon, leaving people heartbroken instead of just leaving him. RIP my friend. You were not alone, you just needed a good person to talk too.

Need to know basis...i hate sharing because people have their own limits or opinions of me, what i should do, have etc. So i only share when something is done. I wont even share vacations until after the fact.

1 Don't share Dream and aspiration with everyone. Surrounded by the people who support your dream. Trust your intuition.2 Don't share doubts and fear. Focusing on manifest courage.

This is a good lesson. I have always shared things with others. My goal is to let others see how I have overcome and then it would give them courage to be able to overcome their own problems. Maybe it is not my responsibility to do this for others? Maybe I should focus more on myself?

Having had counseling since I was 19, after fifty years of counseling, I have Counselor Mouth. If anyone asks me any question my mouth opens and truth comes out. It is seriously irritating now that I am 70 and the internet is busting with everyone saying "Don't share your history" that this is happening to me. However, I know I was placed on this Earth to report the atrocity that is child abuse. The woman who pushed me out of her vagina shattered any sense of mental or emotional health I was supposed to have to cope with this nightmare called life. I have never had much mental health until very recently after making breakthroughs with mushrooms. But I am still cursed with Counselor Mouth. Don't ask me, I'll tell you the truth and break your silly little mind.
