My husband was a rural electric lineman for almost 34 years. Please keep those out working in that in your prayers. It's a tough job, especially if you have to climb poles. Stay safe my Alaska friends.

In 1998, we had a huge ice storm in Quebec some folks did not have power for 30 days…we camped on a lot of mattresses in friends and family’s basements. We drove 4 hours back home to feed the pets. Eventually we packed the cats and we all went to stay in my Dad’s empty apartment.

That is definitely “heart attack” snow. Be careful Bert!
I feel your pain. Living in CT, we had a freak Halloween snowstorm years ago and were without power for 10 days! No heat or water! The worst. We did buy a generator after that. We do always have gallons of water stored and we use the grill. Never take these things for granted!Praise God!

I live 45 miles north of New Orleans & when hurricane Ida hit in August we were without power for 10 days in 95 degree heat & high humidity. We had a generator for fan & fridge. We were lucky because south of us a lot of people lost EVERYTHING! It’s not fun without electricity!

Bert is absolutely amazing, stay safe. Thank goodness you are prepared. Terrible weather in Seattle and Oregon and California, then wind and heavy rain in the middle of the country. Here on the east coast we just had our warmest December on record.it’s crazy all around. prayers for all those who are suffering, and for those living in Delta Junction. Take care 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

Good dads are a blessing. Good moms are as well, but dads dig us out. Bert is a good man. He loves his family, for sure! Thank you, Lord for each member of our families and the parts they play.

In central texas when we had the freeze. We watched Netflix, prayed-ALOT, called in on family and friends to see if they were ok, ours was, played board games, played game apps on phone and read through kindle and tried to build a snowman. Watched your vlogs to get through the infamous freeze of texas.

Hope Bert’s parents are ok. Snow is fun to play in but I wouldn’t want to live n it. I think you need to invest in a whole house generator. Glad that you have plenty of wood. Love Audrey telling us what to do when the power is out. We were out for 12 days after hurricane Ida. But we have a whole house generator. But this time we didn’t have water which was a new challenge for us.

We were without power for two weeks, in August, in south Florida due to a hurricane and it was absolutely miserable. Yet we counted our blessings because we had minimal damage and everyone was safe. We've since invested in a whole house generator😀

After hurricanes Irma and María hit Puerto Rico, we were over 4 months without electricity. I know that its different in Alaska because of your climate, but God did we learned from not having anything for over 4 months. Now, I have a generator, solar system and a very well stock pantry. We learned the bad way, but thank God we survived that terrible experience. I did not lost my house because it was build with cement, but cannot say the same for other family who lost everything. You are a well prepared family. Love your channel and God bless you all. A hug from Puerto Rico.

We are in the Sierra Nevada mountains near Tahoe and our farm was hit extremely hard by this last storm. We haven't had power for going on 6 days. I'm very thankful that we have everything we need and are prepared for power outages. We always make sure to have backup heat, water and power... But it still gets exhausting after a few days.

Happy New Year! When I was a child in North Dakota we lived 12 miles out of town. We had 2 days of blizzard weather and a ton of snow. My Dad was stuck in town because they closed the highways. Most roads were blocked. We had a ranch style house, the snow was up to the edge of the roof. We could not open the doors, solid snow . We lost the power for over 30 hours and it he temperature was in the teens. We had generator, what we did have was an natural gas oven. My Mom had the burners on and the oven on with the oven door open. That was are only source of heat. My mom would let it run for an hour then shut it off 2 hours. She was worried about CO 2 poisoning. My Mom had us build a fort under the kitchen table. It was really fun. The snow was so deep the snow plows were stuck. The state had to call the National Guard in to dig people out and clear roads. We were snowed in for 5 days. It took 3 days to get the power on. It was a fun adventure as a child. My Mom did not enjoy it.😀

When we lived in the dc metro region, we had a ton of power outages. We purchased an all household generator to automatically come on. Our shore house we have a few outages, but not bad. The fire can heat the whole house and we can cook on our wood stove, easily.

Relax and enjoy the quiet. Build forts is good. It creates an insulator for your room and keeps your body temps in.

I've lived in Ft Worth all my life. Last Feb when the whole state was in a deep freeze we were hunkered in for 8 days. Thankfully my house never lost power. I had friends that were in the dark for days. That was my only experience of super cold deep freeze in my 61 years.

When we had tornadoes in 2011 in Alabama we had no power for a week, but had water everything in my freezer ruined, we had a turkey cooker that we cooked on, boiled water to bath in, batter powered radio . Tuscaloosa got lots of damage, it was April so not cold and not hot, many people were way worse than us, thankful. Supposed tip be stormy tomorrow.
