My Dad was a Lt. on a force of a town of 50, 000... & retired in 2010. So very much has changed. My sister is a Detective in the same town. She frequently does Dispatch work because there's not enough dispatchers. You couldn't pay me enough to do their jobs. It takes true dedication & too much scrutiny is so stressful. I'm thankful that I remember when kids grew up wanting to be a police officer or Sheriff's deputy. Were here bad apples? Yes, but they were rare in numbers as is the same today. I failed to add that if there are any good cops, they have to stay in the shadows and toe the line. If they report another officer, they cross the thin blue line and put their families and themselves at serious risk. Who other than criminals would want to do this job? Good people stay away because of fear from that and fear from what that has caused from the public. It will always be a shitty job until someone with real stones gets in there and cleans it up!

We don't need police states, we need a restructuring of DOJ from top down. We should have few highly intelligent, motivated, moral, highly trained individuals as police. Who are capable men and women, who have a sense of morality. Officer discretion should not violate civil rights. As we are seeing constantly. There has been a us vs them attitude within police and I am against that.
