When I 1st heard about this my thoughts were about who would decide to inhabit? Is there fresh water? Which animals would stay on it? How would seperate effect weather? Would ceops be able to be groen on the new continent? If it was being pushed towards land instead of pulled away from land, would humans witness more mountains being born? Stuff like that. 🐱🐱

Geologists have known about the East African Rift Valley for about 60 years. Until this rift cracked open, there was no concrete evidence of such dramatic plate techtonics in which we could point. Now, we can see the plates movement. I became interested after seeing a doc on a Canary Island landfall creating a tsunami wiping out the east coast of the USA. That documentary has since been played down. They called it a rift also but not the same as this. Lastly, there is a rift in Hawaii which, I think, could possibly have a massive landfall into the ocean. Think about lava creating more land on top of the island. The ocean solidifies the lava. Eventually, so much land protrudes past the support needed to keep it above water.
