I was an examiner in the 80's. Everyone trained the ILS with a go around. No one ever trained them to land. They always were spring loaded to go around at minimums. If I needed an easy fail, I'd ask them to land. They were all over Hell and half of Georgia. In 33 years of Airline flying, I've never gone around on an ILS. Thanks for covering the most important part of the ILS. Transition to visual is very important and often neglected. Thanks!

Good Job with the computer Sim! Certainly not minimums this afternoon (2/17/2018) at SRQ. This morning was a different story. You could have done this live on RWY 14. Fog and low ceiling. I didn't fly it of course. Had to wait for the weather to clear.
Have a great day! Cherokee 180 N3644R @ SRQ

Great video, I like that you are using X-Plane. I am getting ready to start working on my Instrument Rating and set up a simulator (with X-Plane) at home to be able to get a better understanding. So far the landings in the sim have been far from perfect for me. My PP was done without an autopilot, so also nice to see and practice. Anyway, I always walk away from your videos with lots learned, thank you for posting!

I'm quite rusty looking like I'm going back in so appreciate this so not criticism but question and it's minor..I noticed you put first notch flaps well before the white flaps arc and also I "THINK" was taught to fly the glideslope on the OBS right down to the runway. Of course you're visual at that point but the glideslope puts you I suppose on the runway at the same point the controllers want you to be for moving traffic along. The PAPI won't do that for you. Again minor...opinion appreciated. Thanks again, gonna watch some more of yours.

The 172 I'm doing my IFR training on doesn't have a heading bug or altitude bug

Why do they tell you to turn heading 180 when the approach is 139?

you need to slow down talking, i have noticed you read or say wrong many times in your videos, because you wanna read fast ! what is the hurry ? plus if you are a CFI, use the proper phraseology please. for example, when you say oh instead zero. that is a bad example. i hope you see this and care.
