Quest3S ( plus $30 in store credit :P) is Here! I finally had the opportunity to go Hands on with the Upcoming Meta Quest 3S, the upcoming affordable VR/MR Headset from Meta, poised to substitute completely the Meta Quest 2.
So in this video we are gonna go over my fist impressions of the new Meta Quest 3s after around 1 hour and an half of usage, showing some features that were welcoming added over its actual predecessor, the Meta Quest 2.

Affordability is one of the biggest issue for most people that are on the fence about trying VR, so this does make sense.

People look at the quest reddit, like 90% of the comments are from original Quest 3 owners that are trying to bash Quest 3S release because of the lenses and ofc they paid 200$ more for the original Quest 3 at 500$ (released price).

Well, buy the original Quest 3 then if you want the very best visuals, you don´t need to bash the Q3S because it have freshnel lenses and it costs 200$ less, because there is people that are willing to sacrifice a bit of visuals to have everything else the original Q3 have for 200$ less. 🤷

I don't think Quest 2S is a good name because the main reason to upgrade is that it is part of the Quest 3 family. It can play Quest 3 exclusives and has the same chipset.

the 3s is probably a must buy for me if its received well. the only problems for most seem to be the lack of a headphone jack and the ipd adjustment. the headphone jack thing doesnt bother me in the slightest. i have bluetooth headphones anyways and i dont plan on using it standalone much either. the ipd adjustment kind of sucks, but i use glasses in vr anyways, so i dont exactly have a good "sweet spot" to begin with. im a quest 1 user right now, and i find it incredibly difficult to see most things because of the low resolution, low FOV, low brightness (despite being OLED), and it doesnt even turn on half the time anymore.

I'm going to wait for it to come out in Brazil (where I live) to buy one, seriously, I think Meta has gone crazy, $299 for a Quest and it has the same power as the Quest 3, just cheaper, to give you an idea, Here where I live, the Meta Quest 2 was 2500BRL and these new glasses are around 1500BRL, it's very cheap, it's cheaper than an Xbox Series S.

Are there only 3 fixed positions for IPD setting? If so, what are the 3 numbers? Or can it be set any where between 554-72?

Honeslty i just want the better lenses of the Q3 for quest link. The fact that it isnt and removed the headphone jack made this useless to me. Such a letdown cuz i cant afford the Q3, tho if its absolutely needed to reduce price, well ig it makes sense to have an affordable option that isnt as weak as the Q2

i just bought the base model oh the quest 3 for base price and now they are making the 512gb the same price and the one i just bought cheaper, might return it and buy it again. lucky me :(

By replacing Q2, Q3S eventually counts as a "software upgrade" for Q3. Dear Q3 users: you don't have to buy it, you don't have to trash it either. Q3S is good for you.

Discontinuing the Quest Pro is a MAJOR disappointment! The best all-around headset, especially for social VR, that isn't from a Chinese company will be no more without a proper successor?! 😭
