VISITING 3 INSANE GERMAN CASTLES

Today we drove into Germany where we adventured through the country and found and visited 3 insane German castles!

The rich history and beautiful castles really made this day special. Really would like to go back and explore more of these castles!

1st castle visited: Reichsburg in Cochem
2nd castle visited: Burg Eltz near Koblenz
privately owned by the same family who are called Von Eltz for almost 1000 years.
3rd Castles Visited: Above the Eifel Village near the town of Monrea there were two castles. The ruins of Löwenburg and Philippsburg.

UPDATED DETAILS: There were a few points i made in this video that i've learned are not quite true. Let me clarify!
I said that the second castle we visited, Burg Eltz was 500 years old when in fact it is nearly 1,000 years old! Amazing!
I also said that there weren't very many castles left... in comparison to 300 years ago, this is true. However, Germany is the country with the most and oldest castles in the world! There are quite a few left, approximately 25,000 in fact!
Another things that i mentioned was that during WWII many castles were bombed. This took place mostly only in big cities but for the most part this was not the main reason so many castles were destroyed. It was many wars before the 20th century! Btw, Geneva is a city in Switerzland. It's French-speaking, but not located in France!

Here's the gear that i brought on my Europe Trip!

More videos soon to come so consider subscribing to the channel, i'd love to have you apart of the community! :) If you're still reading, comment something nice below and have an awesome day!

9:12 actually, Germany is the country with the most and oldest castles in the world. They didn’t really got bombed because most of them are surrounded by complete nature, all big cities got bombed that’s true, but most castles made it through both wars without any harm since they were no important target.

The most castles in Germany were destroyed by the French during the Napoleonic wars. The Reichsburg (the castle that you visited in Cochem) was destroyed too, but was rebuilt by a rich business guy in the 19th century. Castle Eltz is still in it's original shape and still belongs to it's historical owners.

Burg Eltz isn't 500 years old. It's at least 1000 years old. The earliest fortifications are from the 9th century.

Wow Germany, my old home. I’ve been longing to go back. I was an army brat. Some of my earliest memories are from this place. Gundelsheim I think the town I lived in first and then we moved to an American army base in Bamburg...then we lived in Giessen the second time. Germany Ich liebe dich ❤️

This seems to be such an enchanting place to see, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!

Geneva is a city in Switzerland and not in France. They speak French in that part of Switzerland.

Where do you get your infos from? Burg Eltz 500 years old? It is actually around 1000 years old. The youngest parts of it are around 500 years old. Castles destroyed in WWII? Why do you think they were an important target? Actually most of them were destroyed way back in time, when cannons became important on the battlefield. That's why you don't find any castles build after, because they are no shield against cannons.

Cool video man. I gotta comment on some little thing thing you mentioned that I’ve always found hilarious. I’ve been a mechanic for 22 years now, and it’s always boggled my mind at how everyone seems to think Benz’s are the best vehicles in the world. I tell people that all the time, they’re taxis in Germany. They’re junk just like everything else. A coworker buddy (who’s also a mechanic) of mine went to Vietnam years ago, he ended up meeting a woman from there. Long story, but anyways he went to meet her family, and one of her uncles was very wealthy. The whole family talked about this amazing car he had in his garage, and that everyone was so jealous of him for being able to afford such a luxurious vehicle. What he had was seriously envied by a lot of people. Anyways, my buddy goes over to his place for this big unveiling of this amazing vehicle, and he said he almost busted out laughing when the guy opened the garage. It was a Dodge Caravan. Just remember that what you are told isn’t always what is haha.

The Reichsburg in Cochem is 950 years old but destroyed. The castle you can see is rebuild in 1870's by a rich businessman for his wife as a summer residence. But: She always got cold 🥶 in it and she didn't get there any longer.
