Believe it or not, I was standing beside the summit cross in Zugspitze & visited these two fairytale castle. I love Bavaria because of the mountaines nature. I arrived in Mittelfranken (northern Bavaria) back in the summer of 93'. I was stationed in Nuremberg and in Schweifurt from 93'-97' (US Army). I married a German Frau and stayed to raise my 3 kids. Every summer before Covid, I used to travel to Garmisch, Berchtesgaden or other places all along the German-Austrian border to go hiking or climbing. To me, Bavaria is the most beautiful state in all of Germany! Schöne Grüße!

Thank you Ryan for this amazing trip. You should have mentioned that you can also visit Neuschwanstein Castle inside and have a guided tour. There are 2 more castles built by King Ludwig II.
E.g. Herrenchiemsee Castle is situated on an island on Lake Chiemsee. You can reach it by ship which is really lovely !
