I wasn’t born at that period but even I miss it. 🤣 Yes there were issues but it seemed more relaxed and people cared more. I’d jump into a time machine straight away.

Interesting at 0:08 we see the Bourke Street double decker buses that replaced the cable trams after 1940 until the new electric team route replaced them about 1955.

The opening is the corner of Elizabeth and Bourke. Building on immediate left is GPO and you are looking up what is now the Bourke St mall to Swanston st. . Note: the Wool Exchange (modern picture) and Wool Exchange Hotel were 2 different buildings. The hotel was King/Bourke (high rise there now) the actual Wool Exchange (which remains) is King/little Collins st).
