It was great to see Melbourne back in the olden days... NOT a care in the WORLD, NO road rage, NO drugs and back then ICE was frozen water.. Thank YOU for this ..😀

The Big Australia brigade have really wrecked this city. Thanks for another great upload. Wouldn't be able to find enough space to park that '64 Chevy Impala around St.Kilda these days

Someone has a hell of a lot to answer for and it’s not the man in the street.

Thankyou very much Gezza for the old footage of Melbourne, much apricated. Your a champion! Any chance you can find footage of 1980s Melbourne nightlife, clubs ect, regards George.

The 60s, 70s and 80s were just gold for Melbourne. Sure, things got really rough in the late 80s but still we had a beautiful city and still do. Only a few million more people!! And we will be the biggest city in the Southern Hemisphere with or without Covid! We are still the worlds most livable city and even more so now everything has gone back to normal (touch wood!)

Just saw Ivan Hutchinson. I was best friends with his daughter Joanne at school. He was a lovely man.

Back in the days when we had those old red telephone boxes and when there were no mobile phones and life was much easier and peaceful and no digital technology. We paid for everything in cash and no credit cards. It was a better life back then and less things to worry about.

Good compilation. Bourke Street at 2:21 with no trams but double decker buses will confuse many.
But this was the case from late 1940 to about 1955 after the cable trams were scrapped.

This song reminds me of Toc H night club in the 80s

I get so much enjoyment from these excerpts of the way we used to be, thank you!

I had missed this one Gez. Nice.
We all go on about how great Melbourne used to be back in the day. But I suspect, long after we have gone, some kids of today will look back at some point in the coming decades and feel ' these days' are the best of Melbourne, for them. I kind of hope so. Anyway...C'arn the Pies.

Yes, Melbourne is pretty much ruined now - too big, too crowded, too angry, too depressed and too many tall buildings.

A far cry Gezza from today's screen glazed, masked anti-hero's, shuffling from one sticker to another.

As a GenX with more pessimism than optimism, I guess under-bellies were hidden from view back then too...

I was still smiling at the end Gezza... Ty.

No longer the once beautiful city it was …. Spoilt by crime, knee jerk reactions and radical thinking and behaviour, never to return to the beautiful place it was .
