Thanks for taking us along. Great edit also! ((Considering taking on Flex as we speak, this content is proving very helpful))

Thanks for the vid. I've just retired and found this sad, the opportunities available to me in the 80's are no longer available, ways to escape the grind. Worse, doing these types of jobs just covers the time for the man before you are made redundant by drones or robots. Totally depressing. 😢

its a curse of contracting jobs like amazon flex, there are always people who are willing to do jobs at a lower rate and with no unionisation it screws everyone else but the employers.

Hi there. I just watched your Flex YouTube video. When it comes to working out your financials at the end, you are failing to add a claimable expense. You are failing to claim/deduct 45 pence for each mile you drove on that block. Therefore, 0.45 x 68 miles = £30.60 - deduct the £30.60 from the £49.50 = £18.90 minus 20% tax to pay of £3.78

You can also deduct mobile phone usage/car cleaning also which will reduce overall tax. Best you do some online research. Good luck & best wishes.

If you see some of the deliveries are going to be awkward or too far away just don't deliver them, don't even attempt them, turn your Internet off as mark as at location or can't find address and it will let you make it as undelivered even if you ain't near the property. Saves you hassle and damage to your car, take them back to the depot and you still get paid

Totally agree with the theory but if no one accepts base rates amazon will just take more drivers on to compensate. The ideal scenario is just enough people taking base rates so it doesnt make it difficult picking up an enhanced rate.

Greetings from Manchester.
Companies these days don't care if you'll make money or not.
If you won't accept the rate they pay you won't get the job.
Plenty of fish out there who can grab anything offered.
That's how it is these days. Take it or leave it.

Nice video, mate! I just wanted to ask—have you registered yourself as self-employed, or how do you handle things in terms of taxes? Also, what have you done regarding insurance? Are you using the hourly insurance that Amazon suggests, or have you arranged something else?

I commented on a previous video saying that base rate is ok, well yesterday I took a base rate 4 hour block and it was 140 miles and 5 hours so im with you on this one now. Base rate isnt worth your time its too variable...

What about Business Insurance and car road tax as well, i know you calculate that 5 and you said is probably to much but i think is not actually too much considering that for doing amazon you need to pay a business insurance for carriage of good for hire and rewards. keep up the good work and keep up showing this message as basic rates are taken all over uk by some drivers that did not do any calculations at all and just taking shift to make sure that nobody else is takin them before them is like a challenge for them xd

I am at the beginning of your video, and it is the same with Deliveroo, UberEats, etc. People are willing to accept the lowest possible base rates, and the rates have dropped significantly in recent times.

HI, what is the year and cost of your car, how much would you spend on a car to do delivery work as a main source of income ?

I just switched my job from Uber eats to Amazon Flex, never considered base rate because I am a victim of Uber eats low paid job, instead I pick better offers at the right time and right place….many night shifts are well paid, seen one with 80 pounds for 3 and a half, not too bad

As you're self employed just claim the 45p per mile that HMRC allow. That would have been £30 on fuel and wear and tear thus massively lowering your income tax and making the shift a little bit more profitable.

Ive just signed up - i wont be taking any base rates! People need to just stand together and not do £8 hour base rate may as well deliver pizzas ha ha

Thanks for advice

Im very confuse, you said 3 hours of 49.50£...paid, ok. This49.50 is minus your consumption(petrol or diesel)...you get maybe 25£

Thanks for sharing your experience. Delivery jobs aren't worth it, Uber, Deliveroo, Amazon, and Just eat they all want to pay peanuts. You have no security in this jobs, and also you will destroy your vehicle.

I presume you have to have business insurance as your delivering parcels? how much extra does that cost?

Honestly I'm not too sure base rate looks that bad. I've driven DSP before you you're pocketing £105 for a full day like 12 hours door to do and you'll do 25-35 stops an hour, granted they are more clustered but easily 250-300 parcels in 8 hours then drive back time, you don't pay fuel etc. Wear and tear can be tax deducted I think you're realistically taking home £12-13 an hour, which if you've ever tried Uber eats etc I think is good, it's certainly less waiting in restaurants which is an unknown variable. I took over a year to get onto flex and I've got my first shift tonight 4 hours £66 which is base maybe I'll change my mind after that, they snap up fast here so it was the best way to give it a go.
