I’ve witnessed one of these bois walk around this school area during class time (so no one about) and he seemed to be testing for echoes? There were some fantastic echoes so I don’t blame him, but he then saw a bin nearby, hopped over and onto it, deadass stuck his head inside and started cawing in there. Really weird but hella cool

As I was driving to the shops there he was - raven - sitting on side of road on pedestrian crossing staring at me to stop and let him go! So I stopped the car (no traffic otherwise it would be risky for him and me) and he walked right across the pedestrian crossing - the most important bird on planet!!! After he was on the other side I drove off - watched him in rear view mirror like he was jumping from joy that I understood what he wanted to do!

They sound like a mix between a cat giving birth, a kid who dropped their ice cream, and an old lady who fell down the stairs

I like the slight differences and variations in the call. It is not always the same, more feeling or emotion maybe when conveying the aaaggghhh. Like at around 0:56 and the last calls at the end. Beautiful Aussie bird.

I once stayed in a hostel in north Canberra on the 2nd floor. It seemed like all the neighbourhood ravens roosted in the very tree outside my window. The sounds of a couple dozen of these fellas yelling at each other at dawn will stay with me forever.
I mean, I've lived around them all my life but that was different.
