Strength is born through suffering and sacrifice. Power is truly gained through embracing darkness, belief is also power, fears of loss particular of family and allies leads one to the dark side. Complete deatchment from relationships, refusing to forming connections in the world, and being unwilling to experience or confront fear makes one try and failing to attain peace like the Jedi.

The only issue with the dichotomy is compassion.
The Jedi say they are only compassionate even though they don't suffer, and Sith say they suffer but don't have compassion.
The reality is that those who suffer are often the most compassionate, dismissing both the Jedi and Sith frameworks for emotion.
