World central kitchen is doing air drop by helicopter food and water runs. Contact them to give them the areas up in the mountain.

She can call 211 to get her family member on welfare check list which governor has been stressing to public for days. This newscast may be over 24 hrs old. FEMA is on the ground today. Army corps of engineers, FHWA, 800 army reserves, choppers been doing air lifts and drops all day pushing further into the region, bringing in temporary bridges due to 300 roads closed, 22 acute care hospitals power back on, emergency air guard, etc, etc, etc. It is a massive operation.

I've seen nothing but coverage and press conferences about WNC. There are hundreds of remote locations in the Blue Ridge Mountains and they will be challenging to get to, I watched some video of Little Switzerland yesterday with the road up the mountain blocked in several places. There are a lot of retirees in the area that are cut off from the world. Little Switzerland is a very small village that hangs on a ridge in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the road to Marion is a steep switchback and I m sure will be undrivable for weeks if not months. This is a freak storm that no one anticipated would be catastrophic which is why so many were not prepared for several weeks of no power, food and water. Although I would think Little Switzerland residents have a lot of frozen foods and some canned stuff, that does them no good with the power outage or if their house is gone. Little Switzerland is a good hours drive away from Asheville, and Marion was about a 30 minute drive before the storm and now it's an hour and half drive away. Little Switzerland is a gorgeous remote place to live and I hope the help they need arrives today.

FEMA has sent truckloads of water and food to North Carolina. With roads washed out is very difficult to get to some of the smaller towns. NBC should do a story on the man who hiked 11 miles up a mountain to check on his parents in Little Switzerland. The same town her grandparents are currently in. It's devastating for a lot of people, but this storm was worse than had been anticipated.

Making this political is ridiculous. They are human beings that need to be rescued. Politicians are not saviors.

Starts with: They have nothing & nobody knows anything.
And then: They called us yesterday, they said they're receiving supplies sent to help them, they have enough to get by for now & we've been talking to rescuers who told us they've been there & they're doing multiple runs daily.

Harris and Biden have both done press conferences about the Hurricane. and FEMA officials are in Asheville. They are coordinating efforts in a systematic way. When a President or Vice President visit an area, it is a tremendous drain on local law enforcement to protect them. It would be extremely irresponsible for them to come too soon, when law enforcement needs to be prioritizing finding survivors. The fact Trump went into any hurricane-impacted area was extremely selfish, since his photo ops meant law enforcement had to focus on protecting him instead of keeping order and finding survivors.

This is sad that all of these people are missing. I hate to say this, people are forgetting this is a multi state disaster. Also you choose where you want to live. If you choose to live in area with limited communications and not having a plan for an emergency, you are taking a gamble. I wonder if any of them had a weather radio. Everyone living on a mountain should have a satellite phone. Yes, they are expensive but at least they would still have communication. If you live in an east coast state you should always be prepared for a hurricane. They have been getting bigger and will be continuing to get bigger. Everyone needs to watch Ryan Hall on here. He was talking about the storms path for a couple of dsys before it hit. His motto is don't be scared be prepared. If you look at the white house website it says that Biden and Harris have been meetings trying to coordinate things. Biden is going to be in NC on Wednesday. Fema has over 3 k reps out in several states.

Some people in these remotes places do not have the means or knowledge of the danger to evacuate. One of the main problems has been the failure of cell service coverage from all carriers since the storm arrived late Thursday night. This has been all across WNC.

FEMA is not set up to run out and rescue every stranded civilian spread throughout a region. People need to take storm preparation seriously and it's the job of your local first responders to rescue them not FEMA's.
