Flushing your drain 101

I was shown to flush in both directions, clean the flush port with alcohol wipe, install syringe after purging air from it, open stopcock to body, flush with some of the saline, turn stopcock to open to bag, flush with the rest of the saline, turn stopcock to closed to flush port, remove syringe.

Hello thanks for the Video...I'm taking care of my Uncle who has 2 Nephrostomy tubes....I'm confused as to which direction do I turn Stopcock?? When i inject Saline should it go into Drainage Bag or into Kindeys? The directions nurse gave me says turn toward Drainage Bag...but it doesn't make sense to me...if you can please Clarify....Thank you!

Thank you my son came home with a drain and I couldn’t remember how the drain shown me. Of course I use alcohol wipes and stuff
