I consider myself an aficionado of hot dog meat sauces. Been playing with them for about 40 years. I'm intrigued by your concoction. I'll make it and let you know. Pretty simple but with some surprising flavor notes. Thanks for the recipe.

The old coney carts used some wild techniques. Some places used saltines as filler, some minced the previous day’s unsold hotdogs, my favorite hotdog chili technique from the Midwest: beef hearts!

This is closer to any coney Island sauce recipe I've seen yet!❤😂

I never knew there was a difference in chili for hot dogs and I wondered why my chili dogs were only ok. Then I made a chili from Not Another Cooking Show (wheat beer version) and it includes sugar, cinnamon, and chocolate. And it was excellent, though a bit lumpy, for chili dogs.

By the way, this guy also had a food truck.

Anyway, yours is the first that looks appealing and makes sense to me. I’m going to give it a go. Thanks for sharing.

I am so much in debt that I plan on selling platters of food out of my home. This recipe for hot dog chili would be a very nice menu item. Thank you young man. Really appreciate it and the fact that you posted the recipe on screen

One question: What is the chili blend?

The best chili dog in LA is Chronies, this reminds of it. The flour is what I always believe is in their secret recipe. Thanks, so well done!

I don’t know if you’ve run into this issue, but mine is homogenous when I make it. However, when I pull it from the fridge, the top layer is often not spicy at the bottom layer is very spicy. It’s like the liquid carries the flavor to the bottom. I have to store smaller batches so I can reheat and stir before using. It’s a similar, but different recipe.

Hey I am going to try this but I was wondering on somethings you have Tblsp -Tablespoon - some you have Tsp - teaspoon but then on a few you have just T? I am assuming that T is tsp because of one of them being the mustard and you just put a little bit in am I right or is the T something else? Thanks for any info.

Looks great! I always add raw ground beef to the other ingredients and cook it that way. It seems to help get the meat really fine.

A lot of people are saying this is Cincy chili, but you've definitely got your own thing going on. I'll have to try this out sometime

Your recipe looks more like how some friends of mine make sloppy joes.

I don’t know if I can bring myself to add sugar or ketchup to my chili. Very odd. 😂 But I totally approve of leave out any beans!!

I’m Canadian and growing up every time my mom made chili it tasted different; depending on what we had that could bulk it up for a family of 8. But I never saw her use sugar, flour, cinnamon, cocoa, ketchup, or mustard.

I’m going to have to try it. My favourite chili recipe that Ive come across online is Butter Bob’s Chili.

Have a good one!

Careful pouring animal fat down the drain. That can be an expensive lesson to learn.
