How does Crayola Color Wonder work?

Crayola has patented their secret recipe for the ink used in the Color Wonder collection.

But we know that the ink is a colorless leuco dye that changes to color in the presence of acid. The substrate in the Color Wonder paper contains zinc ions which trigger the development of color in the dyes when the marker inks are applied.

Think of litmus paper and universal indicators.

For the people that don't understand what she's saying, she's basically saying that the pad is a giant p. H tester and the different colors are different ph. Levels, which causes the color.

Yes if you dip it in the color and immediately to the couch, it doesn't show up but if you dip it and color on the paper, then the couch, the color transfers to any surface. As long as the brush is clear it shows up clear but if the brush has the color in it, it transfers. It's also grease based and never dries

If anyone has not used a color wonder as a blender, try it! I use it to blend colored pencils.
