5️⃣ Tips for the Best Math Talks:

1️⃣ Creating hand signals, such as a thumbs up, will prevent students from shouting out and interrupting others while they are sharing their ideas.
2️⃣ Keep them between 5-15 minutes. This is just enough time to hold interest and allow multiple kids to share.
3️⃣ Question don’t correct. Rather than telling a student their answer is incorrect, ask them how they cam up with it.
4️⃣ Use open ended, relevant, questions. Kids like to talk about what they know and love. Relevant topics, such as holidays and seasons are great for young kids.
