It’s the biggest slap on the face!!!! Anyone who read the book would get extremely angry! It was supposed to be Florence not Rome. I fell in love with Florence because of that book. It was supposed to be Lorenzo. It was supposed to be different. I’m angry and heartbroken 😭🤬💔

It’s like actors can’t act anymore I see where it could’ve been a great movie. However, usually you shouldn’t feel like you’re watching a movie when you’re watching a movie…

The scenery spectacular, the actors young and pleasant looking, somehow there is a great disconnect between the script’s delivery, the acting within an actor and between actors. Something is amiss, a great disconnect. Better luck next time 😱😱

This movie is such an insult to the novel, already the trailer left me in disbelief how they ruined the book in such an extend 😭 it's like they slapped an cliché Italian frame over Emily and Paris and we all know how unbearable that one was :( everyone please just ignore the movie but read the book! <3

To start with, I have not read the book. Given that, I thought your review was quite fair and insightful. I liked the storyline and the supporting cast. However, I thought the script was weak and Lena miscast. Lena's range as an actress was limited -- where was the brainy person going to MIT? Who tested well in Italian? I think we needed a better director to guide Lena's journey of self-discovery, a character arc from nervous bumbler to an independent young woman living in Rome. Really liked the idea of Mom's journal driving the story and the lock on the bridge unlocking a mystery from the past. Rome locations saved it for me. I'm glad I watched it, but I wanted more.

I liked this film - I’m especially obsessed with Italy right now so just being set there did it for me. But the story was sweet & innocent which I found refreshing. I’ll have to check out the book.

I liked your comment: "we don't need her to be clumsy and or fumbling" (17 and can't walk in heels joke?) A case for, "like Mother, like daughter" outcome? Mm. :) There's a (male) character who says this line to her: Enjoy walking in your Mother's footsteps. I was thinking, what happens, if that little bit gets switched up - and it was the 'Father's footsteps' instead? Yet, I liked that you think the acting /characters are "sketchy!" It's based on a book? :)

Sounds interesting if not as good as it could’ve been.
Gelato or ice cream. I’m not complaining either way 😂

Lena sounds too mature to be North American. She could be from Latin America.
Skip this flick and watch 'A Roman Holiday' instead. You can't go wrong with a Classic.
