This series is most certainly the BEST TV worth watching in over a decade of British television. 10/10. It does NOT focus on the sensationalism of an animal & butcher who ruthlessly murdered over 15 woman in a 5 year period. But more importantly puts a spotlight on the injustice served by the Yorkshire constabulary who repeatedly fumbled their way through the case due to appallingly bad management & their sexist, misogynist attitudes that clouded their ability to see past alpha ego & politics. 9 times the killer was in their custody & let go. NINE TIMES! The cast is pure brilliance with performances that leave you in compete empathy for the women & survivors of Britains most hideous series killer. The most shocking realisation of this true story is - NOTHING HAS CHANGED in British policing attitudes. NOTHING AT ALL.

As a woman growing up in West Yorkshire in the 70s I an so angry at the attitude of the police . I remember going to a nightclub when the police would play the Geordie tape which was a hoax !

Amazing cast, brilliant acting, I felt it started off really good, I really enjoyed the focus around the victim’s stories. Saying all that, I did feel that getting nearer to the end, they dragged it out too much and I was starting to become bored and couldn’t wait for it to be over! Seven episodes was too long, they could have probably fitted it all in 5 episodes and still managed to get some of the victims stories in there.

Peter Sutcliffe was well known in Burnley his Auntie lived in Nelson hed stop over when visiting Burnley for a night out, hed also parked his lorry nearby.He used to drink in my uncle's pub The Griffin on Rossendale Road.He delivered to Regent Axle on the Rossendale Road Industrial estate another late friend used to handle his delivery and they'd have a brew and chat about what he was doing at the weekend while they unloaded his lorry.

Excellent really gritty and sad at time as it is filmed from the victims prospective . Great acting from all involved. Definitely worth a watch.

No idea why they left out Theresa Sykes's attack. Sutcliffe was chased, hid in bushes and was almost caught and it was just around the corner from where George Oldfield lived. Still, I thought the Jacqueline Hill aftermath was very powerful and well acted.

Agreed, brilliant acting, and for once focused on the victims and their families.

The scriptwriter has taken these very ordinary people and their hitherto very ordinary lives and made them poignant and interesting. No mean feat.

It's significant that not only were alot of the women in a mess, but so were alot of the men.

I've always said a person has to do what they have to do to feed their kids. I don't judge. The way the police treated these girls (and the suspects) was absolutely appalling. Filth in every sense.

A black police detective in the West Yorkshire Police in 1980! That is fairly unrealistic.
