This makes me hard to believe that Beethoven managed to compose this while going deaf. Just a magnificent kind of creativity and just passion he had. Even adding on that such a great philharmonic had played this just brings a smile to my face.

Berliner Philharmoniker, am I seeing correctly that two contrabassoons are included in the orchestra for this performance? Really interesting historical touch, to enforce the double bass part I assume? I've read about this, and really interested in seeing this being done - does the orchestra do this often, or was this a one time situation? Is it unique to the seventh, or other beethoven symphonies as well (apart from 5th and 9th with written contra parts)? Would love some extra information!

I'm not sure, if the highest tempo level is the most important thing in Beethoven compositions.
