I love the idea of “overly conscientious personality disorder”. That makes so much more sense. I hate misnomers. If the OCPD person doesn’t have obsessions and compulsions, it should not be called “obsessive compulsive” personality disorder—pretty simple. Misnomers about health conditions are especially unacceptable and irresponsible when it comes to empowering and helping patients/clients already struggling. I wish this would be officially addressed by the mental health discourse.

I'm diagnosed avoidant personality disorder. It's very difficult. We are very lonely but very cautious. Add in that modern dating is absolutely terrible I've resolved myself to being alone. The cycle continues 😂

Great series explaining Personality Disorder Clusters. BUT, do remember that not everyone (e.g. those with dyslexia) is comfortable with acronyms (OCPD, OCT, OCD etc...). Some of your mnemonics are great but they could be expanded to include the more complex disorder acronyms you so glibly say.

I see them both as just different points on the same continuum. I believe that calling it a personality disorder will discourage some people from seeking help, as it can contribute to stigma and make people feel there is something deeply flawed about them.

When looking at all these different “states of being” we tend to look at them as conditions that just appear. However these are just states of awareness (or lack of) that we walk into based upon programming (whether direct or indirect) that we have accepted. The behavior stemming from that accepted programming is the state that we believed would work for us to get through the conditions in which the program was implemented. When we recognize that there is better programming available we can then start the process of leaving that state.
