The FINAL VERDICT On High on Life...

In our final review of the year, we dig into what was on of my most anticipated of 2022 when it was revealed back during June's Xbox & Bethesda Showcase. High On Life looked like a wild, crazy time and it is just that. Unfortunately, it didn't click all the way for me. Why? Its lenience on writing is both its savior and demise and when that's not working out, the gameplay felt so simple and "just okay" that I was left disappointed.

There’s been so many times I’ve literally laughed out loud playing it. Is it the most fluid or tight shooter I’ve played? No but that’s okay because I’m having a lot of fun with just the humor and the setting and the uniqueness of it which is super refreshing.

Having a blast with it. The combat is fun and varied. Good settings to control voice lines. I liked the options there is bunch of ways to tackle stuff. Also I love how if you just sit and wait characters just keep going it’s pretty funny

Have about 8 hours right now and to me it’s the best fps I have played in a very long time. It’s a original experience which is something you don’t often get with fps games nowadays.

This game is so damn good, I was dying at it the whole time and the fact the conversations feel so real just made it funnier like the reactions and 4th wall breaks felt really human and not like they're reading lines, the gameplay is simplistic and it works fine enough

This game was a huge surprise. Just finished it a few min ago. As a shooter it was more than competent and the story was well written and kept me engaged the entire time. Had an absolute blast with it. I also went in with no expectations and got so much out of it.

Just completed it 24 hours playtime and loved it. So much in this game and the humour is subjective but I thought it was amazing, and as for the guns being annoying that's the point.

One tip for people who find the game a little frustrating to play: Put it in story mode. The combat is not that deep and its more fun in short bursts. I died more to the platforming than in combat when I was playing on Normal mode but just the length of the encounters got frustrating.

I am absolutely loving this game so far. Wasn't expecting a groundbreaking game at all, and I'm enjoying the game for what it is. The main reason why I subscribed back to gamepass until April of next year.

The Tammy and The T Rex bit kills me. Always restarts so if you every get morbid curiosity you have to sit and watch the whole thing

I paused this game to just take a second to laugh at least 8 times. Pitch perfect game pass title. This and Pentiment really did me right this year.

I thought it was a very fun experience, gameplays surprisingly good, enemy variety is lacking, and the humor was dumb enough that I kept playing and getting laughs. Solid 8/10 for me and I can recommend it. Love that it doesn't take itself seriously and need more games like that.

High on life got more buzz than it would have any other year because it was so dry on game pass this year and people were desperate. It's not a bad game it's pretty fun but it's a solid 7\10 does the job.

The art style reminds me of a modern day version of the Simpsons Hit and Run. Really nostalgic in that sense because no one makes cartoon games with this cartoony quasi-realistic look anymore. I greatly prefer these visuals over cel-shading.

I honestly had no idea this game was even a thing. What a pleasant surprise to end the year with. Especially after all the TGA controversy last week about Xbox exclusives. Can't believe how much I love this game.
