As the old Newfoundland joke goes, the fog was so thick, we had to bring out the plows to get it off the roads.😂

This video reminded me of the poem my mother recited to me often as a child.
Fog
Carl Sandburg
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

Thank you, Glen and Julie. – Marilyn

Hi Glen & Julie. The only Canadian show I know / Knew was 'The Red Green Show'. Jfyi, there was a Harbor Master @ Port Hardy, B.C. who we used to rent small fishing boats from. He spoke and dressed much like Red Green... His name is Ian. Great Dude. Salty Sense of Humor tho... We radioed him to say we were experiencing harsh wind & waves. He covered the mic w. his hand (but I could still hear him...). He said to his wife: "Don't worry dear, they are just coming around 'Coward's Corner...' ". 😂. Cheers.

As soon as you guys stood in the alley I could see Alan Hawco running down the stairs after someone. 😆

A few years ago, my parents, my nephew, and myself drove to Newfoundland in my parents RV. Both of my parents came from Newfoundland, and we still have plenty of family there.

After a bit, I rented a car and drove to St Johns, as I had never really been on that end of the island before. Among other things, I managed to luck out and catch a beautiful sunrise from Cape Spear, so I was among the first people in North America to greet the sun that day. I also caught a sunset from Signal Hill. Looking at the pictures that I took, the sunset happened to be directly in line with the Confederation Building, the provincial legeslature building.

I flew home (commercial) out of Deer Lake while my parents and nephew stayed for another few weeks.

As it happens my parents were back in Newfoundland this summer, and depending on the dates, both and they might have been in Deer Lake at the same time, as I have an aunt and uncle there that they were visiting.

When you say you are over the Atlantic you are in fact over my house. The Duke of Duckworth has some of the best fish and chips around. Looking forward to the rest of your trip

Hey Glen, hope you liked your East coast adventure. I'm from Cape Breton, great to see the coast from 2500. Cheers

Such stunning beauty. Being formerly of Maine, now living on the border of the Florida Panhandle and Alabama, I miss hearing French being spoken. My husband was brought up speaking French Canadian in the home, and in Maine it was normal to hear French speakers. Alas, most of my ability has been lost to time, as my husband passed away ten years ago. I appreciate and have enjoyed just hearing the little bit of spoken French on your flights. Btw, the TV show is the Republic of Doyle. I have it on streaming service. Thanks Glen and Julie. God Bless 💖💖✝✝

No puffins, no whales, no U-boats. Darn!

Glad you enjoyed “The Rock”. Fun facts, according to Wikipedia, Wiley Post was through Harbour Grace, no mention of AGBell. I believe most of his aviation endeavours were out of Baddeck, NS, in Cape Breton on the Bras D’Or Lakes. Museum there is worth checking out 😊

My cousin used to work at Gander when she was in the Military as a radar tech. It is a lovely little place for sure. Glad you enjoyed your time in NFLD!

That alley was used for scenes in Republic of Doyle. The Duke of Duckworth, in that same alley, was also in the show and they make damn good fish and chips.
