I believe I got my C150-H up to 14, 500’ over the Rockies back in 1993. Had actually gotten lost and just barely made it over. Way off course I ended up in the States. When I crossed over the peaks it took me awhile to get down the other side the updrafts were so strong.
It’s not how many hours you’ve got, it’s what you put in ‘em. Me and Whiskey Quebec Charlie had many great adventures!!

If my memory serves me correctly, the service ceiling on a 150 is 13, 500. My late dad got one up to 15, 500 one time. That was obviously pushing it.

In 1966 I was instructing out of Compton, CA for Aero Ventures and then Ben Air. Going to Palm Springs with a student dual X-Country we were able to reach 11, 700!
I only weighed 120# back then!

I did 10, 080 in my 172, it had alot more to it but i wasn't able to go higher do to atc clearance. It was crazy seeing the earth almost 2 miles high!

We coaxed my buddy’s Luscombe 8A to just under 13, 500 one nice Florida morning killed the motor then dove straight down till finally around 8000 the prop moved and we started her back up 👍🏼👍🏼😎😎😻😻
