They also generate HUGE wake turbulance. Little known factor but never ever ever follow a helicopter taking off or landing etc.

That is an immaculate Cessna 150. Would hate to see it flip

Please check your elevator stop after that. If your control lock wasn't in it could be damaged allowing it to overcenter

Many who, fly light or very small planes and, haven’t flown rotors don’t realize the power coming off those rotors.
Army rotor pilots learn early about being mindful of the rotors wash.
Putting a bunch of rotors into a field is tricky cause of rotorwash damage.
Doors can get separated from an airframe if not closed/locked or held.
Seems every time we went to the field someone had a damaged door or cowling cause of rotorwash.
Glad y’all were able to keep your Cessna in place.

Say “I love Blackhawk’s” three times, fast.

I never realized how light a Cessna is! My cousin and I just built a fireplace that weighs 1, 200 LBS!

My grandpa said back before he enlisted for vietnam he mooned a huey flying over doing drills while he was camping in highschool, the guys came back around and blew there tents away with the rotor wash and when the huey came back over again they had spelt out “fuck you” with sticks and they flew in low again and blew the sticks away and the next time they came back over the huey guys landed and they all were shitting bricks but he said at the end of the day they all ended up laughing and having a good time over it

Helicopters rotor wash is no joke, I’d always stay way away from them on the flight deck they’d push you around like you were a piece of paper and I wasn’t trying to go swimming haha

Fun fact: a group of army helicopters like that is called a "serial". The serials combined are called a "lift". And each individual helo is called a "chalk".

Years ago I parked my Citabria at Blackpool (EGNH) and went for lunch. Came back to find it moved and turned 90 degrees - the fire crew told me it had been blown around by a helicopter 😮

Welcome to Valdosta. Thanks to Moody AFB we get to see military aircraft flying around almost daily.

The FAA really needs to increase the separation between fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. People have died because of helicopter wash! You were very lucky!!!

Rotor wash from helicopters is the most dangerous thing for a plane and pilot. You have to wait x amount of minutes before you take off after helicopter leaves. Rotor wash has a major effect turbulence for planes, many have died from it be careful.

One of my duties while in Vietnam was company pay officer. I had to fly around to different firebases and pay the troops. I was warned about not setting up the pay desk anywhere close to a helicopter pad or where they would be flying over as the troops were paid in cash -- military script paper money. I set up shop in a tent.

Now imagine yourself lying in the dirt while a chinook flies about 30 feet above you on it’s landing approach.
