If you defeat a troll in Return to Moria, you will get absolutely nothing in return but that doesn’t have to be the case.

If you manage to lure a troll into direct sunlight, you’ll force it to turn to stone.

This quick tip will allow you to mine it like a troll-shaped granite deposit, and when you break it, you’ll be rewarded with stacks of precious gems that would have otherwise been lost forever.

problem is, i have literally chests upon chests filled with stacks upon stacks of "precious" gems and i see no way of using them outside of needing a couple of specific ones for some weapon crafts

Currently a glitch going on. Where if you lead it to sunlight it drops 1 set of precious gems and black diamond. And if you mine it you get a second! Take advantage of this lol.
