Tiny Scottish town opens arms to Ukrainian refugees - BBC News

It's nearly eight weeks since Russia invaded Ukraine, forcing about four million people to flee their homes.

So far only 12,000 of them have reached the UK - and that's partly down to delays in granting visas.

Residents in the town of Aberfeldy in Perthshire, Scotland, say they are making it their mission to welcome as many Ukrainians as possible.

Home Secretary Priti Patel has apologised for the "frustrating" visa delays which have prevented thousands of Ukrainian refugees entering the UK.

Thanks to everyone who helps our country in this difficult time. It is a pity that not all people can leave, the most difficult thing is for old lying people. Usually they die.
We, my family now live in a frontline city. We are not so scared, as long as only bombs fly and explode. Air strikes. But so far the houses have not been shot at. Although waking up from explosions is very scary. It's hard to live right now. I really hope the war ends soon.
