I am a nail tech, my clients do not have damage when the acrylic is removed. The method of removal you are using is actually causing damage. Your nails and the product adheres microscopically you will not see it. Popping them off can cause that ring and inconsistency on your nail plate that you are seeing as well as over-filing the natural nail which is an outdated technique. I can assure you we do not want you to come back as a conspiracy theory but because we do not want damage to your nail. It is actually inconvenient for us to remove your nails and most techs teach their clients to do it at home safely and even provide then kits with acetone, cotton, nail files, and foil. Having us remove your nails takes time away from another appointment and we aren't able to charge you for that time what we would make taking another client. Some of this information is great and relevant though it would be nice if clients understood some of the language and knew what they want before coming in. There are many great videos on proper nail removal here on youtube I suggest finding a good tech online or do a google search on proper removal at home.

-When you go to the nail salon, you SPEAK UP. saying no is okay!
- Always bring pictures and check in between while their doing it because people do misunderstand.
-go in depth while explaining.

I couldn't ever tell someone to start over. My anxiety would be like nope. Those nails are there to stay.

Some tips I would recommend are: 1. Ask for the price beforehand! Just as Juliana mentioned. 2. Remove your nail polish before going to the salon ( some places will charge extra to remove it).

As a nail technician, I cannot stress enough, taking off your own at home can seriously damage your nails. While some clients are capable of doing this correctly the vast majority or not.

Acrylic nails will not damage your natural nails providing they are applied and removed correctly, please be careful about spreading possible misinformation

I'm honestly so so annoyed how nail techs in my area are ALLERGIC to removing the acrylic nails, that they also applied themselves in shop, PROPERLY. Like they'll pry them off with another nail tip or nail tool 🙄
When it takes 15-20 mins to file down and/or soak I will pay for it but it's dumb af for that not to be apart of the service just because "it takes too much time". That's just like a hair stylist saying they don't want to wash your hair because it takes too much time away from just styling and getting another person in their chair 😒 My nails are so thin from that. I had one woman get mad because she popped my acrylic nail off and I start to bleed. I always start with "I would like a soak off and full set acrylic". I was in tears. I had her soak them off, paid and left after that 🤬 never again

One of my biggest flexes is that I NEVER once in my life bit my nails :)

Hello 👋 My name is Anastasia,
I own nail salon in Toronto, ON.
I was watching this video to understand my clients a little bit more. Thanks 😊
But, I totally disagree about one thing:
8:10 - There is no conspiracy about removing the nail polish yourself at home. It's very bad, trust me, I have over 10 years of experience in this field 😅. You can remove them your self, but you should be really careful, you can damage your nails very badly. And not all the materials can be removed with acetone.
My suggestion, ask your nail tech what is the name of the material that she/he used on you and how you can gently remove it your self at home 😊
Please don't remove them by peeling off. 😉

I want to get my nails done for the first time on my birthday but I'm too shy. I'll probably just say acrylic.

Pls I'm currently sitting at a nail salon and I'm scared 💩less cause I know not ONE thing about getting my nails done. I rarely did it growing up- I'm so scared cause idk what to say and I don't wanna be a bother to the workers especially cause idk what I'm doing. My mom sort of dragged me here, I'm so scared😀

Whenever my cousin get her nails done they always look so beautiful, one time she showed me a picture of the nails she wanted and the nails she got looked the exact same if not better 😍 (I have never gotten my nails done before, except for this one time I got press on nails from dollar tree, which wasn’t a good idea because they were all different sizes even though there were 12 😆)

I get my nails done at Walmart for $30. Been happy with them. Always worth checking out cheaper options. Ya never know if there’s some hidden good nail techs at cheap nail salons.

I've only ever gotten my nails done once. Asked for stiletto shape and she said "whats that?" ... It didn't go well.

I have an appointment for gel nails tomorrow. A friend of mine already went there and I quite liked how they did her nails. I'm still scared because I never got my nails done before. I hope everything goes well. Thank you for the great video 😊

NT student here, I love the tips! However I will say that removing any nail enhancement forcefully/improperly will absolutely cause damage, and I would def advise to go to the salon and pay $5-$10 for removal then you don’t have anything to recover from. As someone said above: it’s not the nail enhancements that damage the nail, but the way it’s removed (when removed improperly).

The biggest reason though I advise people not to remove their own nails is because the damage you’re cashing by you’re ripping off the top layer of the natural nail and idk if this applies to acrylic, but for gel specifically it needs that top layer to adhere to, as it’s the hardest layer of the nail plate. with that being said, if you pop all your nails off and come back in even a month or 2 (it takes around 6 months for the nail to fully grow back) the longevity of your next set is compromised because the gel will have that softer layer of the np only to attach to

Just wanted to drop my two cents! Hope this helps and I hope you do go back for removals ❤️ also, when enhancement is removed by tech you may think your natural nails are damaged/weak because you’re so used to having the strong nail enhancement (which I haven’t come across any natural nails that are equally as strong) that you may believe they are weaker than usual, but apply some nail hardener and use cuticle oily daily while you’re getting used to your natural nail

I’ve been getting nails done for over 28 years. I’d love to join your discussions about different topics. I only went to three different nail tech/places in 28 years.
