In the fall I started a new job that had a significant pay increase. I still act as if that money isn't there. That all gets put away and invested.

I always ask myself, “What would happen if I DIDN’T buy this item?” It’s surprising how many items are truly non-essential.

Great tips!! I pick one day a week to not spend any money at all.

Thanks for another informative video! One trick I use to save more money is to have a "one-spend day". I set aside one day a week (Tuesday) for non-essential purchases, and I write down the specific items that I want. All other days are only for essential purchases. So if I run out of toothpaste on Thursday, an essential item, I can buy that at the drug store but not a non-essential item like lipstick. This technique has helped me save money and avoid impulse purchases.

I work at Walmart and get a 10% discount using Walmart either in the store or online. I prefer to use the online either pickup or delivery because I can do 2 things with it: I can put in a "saved for later" basket giving myself days or weeks to think about if it is worth it financially, the other thing is that it gives me a total up in the corner before I'm ready to check out and can take things off to keep from going over a certain $ amount.

I stash away 1s and 5s every time I go out shopping. This is used for a thinking fund like a vacation. It adds up fast.

Make products last longer between purchases. Cut off bottom of toothpaste and access toothpaste from that end.

Front load laundry detergent is condensed and only requires 1 tablespoon for a regular load and 2 tablespoons for a heavy dirty load. A 32 oz bottle of detergent is now 62 loads instead of the bottle saying 20 loads. At the end of the laundry bottle add water, shake and use the last of it. Do the same with dishwashing liquid, add water..

Did you drop a gob of toothpaste? Use it to clean your tennis shoes, look nice longer (you can use an old toothbrush).

End of a jelly/jam jar, add milk and shake for children or make a vinaigrette dressing in the bottle for a salad.

These all seem small with little return, but I promise, it adds up. Just the laundry can cut your cost from $0.20 cents a load to &0.05-7 cents a load. Plus you don’t shop as much or pay taxes on the purchase.

These are great tips!😊 It's nice to see you talk about the ¨round up¨ strategy when making estimations. It's what I do myself to protect me from unexpected expenses and what I recommend to my clients.

Sounds good. 👍 It’s very important to consider the consequences of what we’re doing. 🤔 A change in mindset can help. 💡 I like the idea of giving yourself back the money from recurring bills once you cancel them! Nice. 💸 I give names to all my accounts. One of them is DO NOT TOUCH!! 😂

A big saving and security tip. Lock your cards. That way, you have to log in to your bank account to use the card. The time it takes to do this. Makes me stop and think do I really need to uses it.

I have been saving cash since January in a Amazon glass container that you have to destroy to open. I made the jar cute and colorful with holiday written on it. It helps because the jar looks pretty and I have to destroy it to open. It has worked. And have 6 months of savings already and 6 months to go.
