Testing Minwax Polycrylic clear coat

It's made for wood, but I'm testing this polycrylic by Minwax on paint finishes to see how it works in the plastic model hobby. It did really well. I will be doing a follow up video specifically testing on model car bodies.

I have a small business And I WILL SWEAR by the minwax Polycrylic.. in the can. I have had reactions to the sprays where first coat may go on easy but a second coat had bubbled up the original paint. why on second coat more often I DON"T KNOW but only rarely has a first coat of spray reacted to it but second coat of spray has happened on several already finished pieces.. . I use gloss in a can.. . but I get rid of all excess and do 2 coats with 8 hours between coats to insure it drys.. been using it for 10 yrs now and never have a problem with it. Just don't let it get to thick like he did. unless it is totally LEVEL . SPIN OFF ANY EXCESS RIGHT AFTER DIPPING. and It takes days to dry to a hard finish. curing time can be a month on anything you finish.

Did the dip can say do not spray. Wonder how it would air brush. Good gloss

When you dip them, let the access run off. Don’t hold it horizontal to keep a pool on it. You want thin coats otherwise it won’t dry properly. The top layer will dry and seal in the wet coat underneath

I’ve never used this on plastic but have used it a lot on wood. It should be applied in the thin coats and then I go over it with a fine steel wool between coats. I’ve always had great shines with it on wood. This was very interesting test. Thanks Mike. Papadan

Looking for quickest dry clear aerosol, or maybe airbrush paint i can sand on quickly, but safe over "acrylic". Need to barry some small metal flakes, then apply my color. Wonder if this would work??
Heat gun, or infrared light to speed it along.

Hey topper vision. I would like to ask if you could make a video on your completed kits. That would be nice, thanks.

Can anyone answer, I bought a can of the polycrylic water based and when I went to stir the stuff there was white goo thickness on the bottom that will not mix in. Should I just return it? Or is that normal? Thanks for any help 🙂

i think you most definitely sprayed it on tooo thick...also you should have have dipped then hung others and let drip... no product would work well ... thin coats it may have turned out perfect imo

Looks like the clear paint would work great! I'd rather spray them though. Nice review. Side note, don't use these utensils for meal time😊

Very interesting. I made a comparison of some similar products in my video on "pledge with future shine". I believe these products to be very similar, if not the same. Thank you.

Tried the Minwax on plastic, by accident.
It later, pealed off... Don't know why.

Not much difference from the Future as you said.
