The world's population centers are shifting rapidly. By the year 2100, it is projected that there will be multiple megacities with more than 70 million people - 2x the size of modern day Tokyo.

I think this ignores some important limits on maximum city size. Tokyo can have a dense urban population because of massive infrastructure such as water supply and storm and sewage drainage. Some desert cities in Africa, such as Khartoum and Mogadishu, are limited by supply of drinking water and would have to build long aqueducts for such a dense population. It seems more likely that the African urban population of 2100 will have to spread out along major rivers such as the Niger and Congo.

For people who think megacity means a great, big city adorned with tech and shopping malls, let me tell you it only means 'big' by population. E.g. compare Karachi, a city rising in population and Sydney or Toronto or Vancouver. Tell me which one is better. I think that a big city and a highly developed city are used interchangeably but are no way same

For cities to grow you need a cohesive population who will work together . Asia seems to adapt to this well while others don’t have the culture for dense populations . I doubt this future growth
